Women in the Revolution

July of  1782 Deborah Samson was 15 years old. She hears the Declaration of Independence for the first time. 6 years ago she granted her Declaration of Independence. She yearns for adventure like becoming a women in the Revolution. She disguised herself as a man so she could be in Revolution. She stitched herself a uniform and walked 40 miles to sign up for the Revolution. She enters a tevern where men are being recruted. She deepens her voice so she can sound like she belongs here. She made up a name Robert Shurtliff. She got the name from a brother. Robert Shurtliff had died years ago. She had grown muscular from working on the farm.The people thought she was a young boy.
